Be Soulfully Present


“Breakfast is the most important meal of the day.” - an exceedingly abused sentence in the English language. And also, a meal that’s often neglected or rushed through in our daily scramble. But if these last couple of months have taught us anything, it’s this: to slow down, to take a breather, to be present in the now, to dig deeper into our psyche, and that constant stimulation doesn’t have to come from outside elements.
       The husband & I made a pact very early in our dating/engaged life. Being the offbeat and spiritual people we are, this was particularly important to us. We wouldn’t have any screens in our bedroom. We would limit our phone/laptop to work hours. Meals would be together as much as possible. Weekends meant spending time in each other’s company discovering new activities. To not just be physically present, but soulfully present. In whatever everyday task we undertook.
      And from that stems today’s breakfast as well - AVOCADO TOAST WITH A SUNNY SIDE UP. Topped off with a pinch of Pink Himalayan salt & red chili flakes. Simple flavors that pack a punch. It was poetry in motion when that golden yolk oozed out. My peripheral vision catches my pup greedily eyeing my plate, and my husband demolishing his. This moment right here, this moment, is called fulfillment.
